Background:

The Thomas Adams School was established in 1976 on a 30-acre campus as a co-educational comprehensive school catering for all pupils in Wem and the surrounding communities. There are three main sets of buildings, all situated around the perimeter of the extensive playing fields and making up a large and very attractive site. The school enjoys the facilities provided by having a joint-use sports centre on site and the municipal swimming pool within walking distance. These, together with the extensive playing fields, ensure first class provision for indoor and outdoor sport including football, cricket, athletics, cross-country, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, rounders, volleyball, basketball, netball and a range of individual interests. The school's music centre offers excellent facilities and there are many weekly musical activities open to students e.g choir, string orchestra, windband, adjazz and junior adjazz. There are regular performances throughout the year in which pupils, parents and staff take part both in and outside of school. The school aims to value excellence and achievement and to seek to fulfil the learning potential of all students.
