Background:
Trefonen CofE Primary School was built in 1866, and amalgamated with Nantmour School in 1983. Sports fields are located adjacent to the school. The curriculum is enriched through subjects such as the environment, art, music and physical education (PE). Collective worship is a key element in the development of pupils' spiritual identity. After-school clubs vary termly but generally include sporting and musical activities, chess and art. Trefonen school was the first in Shropshire to win the Sport England Activemark Award and the first to gain the Ecoschools Green Flag. It has recently been featured in the national press because of its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle.40 Percent of children in the school are brought from outside the catchment area.
