Background:

The Myddle Primary School is a Church of England voluntary controlled school in Myddle, a village about eight miles north-east of Shrewsbury. Pupils come from the village of Myddle and the surrounding area. It has a new school hall and extensions to two classrooms. It has a wildlife area, a play area and a quiet seated area. It offers after-school clubs including football, rugby, cross-country, kite making, chess, rounders, ocarina, recorders and French. The school has been awarded a Charter for football, and has also gained accreditation in the Healthy Schools initiative. The school is working towards gaining the Quality Mark for Basic Skills. The school has an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and pupils take part in fund-raising activities led by the school council. They have supported Red Nose Day, the NSPCC, Local Hospice, and Remembrance Day. Pupils participate in local sporting events and pupils have won swimming, cross-country and football awards. The school wishes to emphasise the strengths of pupils in all areas so that the level of self-esteem is maintained and pupils can be seen by their peers as successful.
