A city technology college opened in 1991, with sponsorship from the former livery guild, The Mercers' Company of the City of London, and by the Wolverhampton-based construction company, Tarmac. The spacious, light buildings, which capture the atmosphere of a modern office, are set on a greenfield site on the edge of Telford town centre. State-of-the-art facilities and services create an environment where students achieve the high standards that are expected of them. Emphasis on mathematics, science, technology and business education; 35-hour teaching week, one-third more than average. Close partnership with parents, who receive full written report every four weeks; atmosphere where pupils feel comfortable about being successful. Reputation in sport and performing arts.
