Background:
Built in 1911 as Coalbrookdale High, Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge School opened as a church primary in 1972. It has since undergone significant internal refurbishment and a new classroom and library block was added in 1999. The school, which is beautifully situated in the midst of the historic Ironbridge Gorge, offers a popular kids club, which provides care before and after-school for up to 32 children, and a nursery and toddlers group for 24 children. It runs a variety of after-school clubs including homework, environment, netball, football, cross-country, drama, music and cycle training and has football, rugby, netball, skiing and swimming teams which have considerable success every year in inter-school competitions. The school promotes a happy and harmonious atmosphere within the school always encouraging a caring and courteous approach.
