Background:
Moorfield School was built as a primary school in 1974, and shares a site with the girls' high school in Newport. Since September 1999 it has been the only foundation school in the Telford and Wrekin LEA. The school has nine classes and is unusual in having two pupil intakes, into reception and into Year 3 from a local infant school. The school has European links (in France, Italy and Portugal), and available sports include cross country, tennis and golf. Pupils are encouraged to raise money for charity.
