Background:

Condover School is still accommodated in the Victorian buildings which first housed the school when it opened in 1881, although an extension in 1977 provides more teaching space. The buildings are set in large grounds with a hard surface play area, playing field, and a pond which won the school an environmental teamwork award in 1997. All pupils have the chance to learn the guitar or the recorder and swimming lessons take place during half of the year. Several clubs take place at lunchtime or after school including football, netball, short tennis, chess and sewing. During the summer term the oldest pupils are offered an adventure weekend in North Wales. There are other shorter trips for children throughout the school. The school aims 'to encourage pupils to want to learn and to develop lively and enquiring minds, with the capacity for original thinking, and to grow in independence, self-confidence and responsibility'.
