Background:

The Sutherland School is the county's most recently established 11 to 16 comprehensive school. The school occupies a pleasant open site providing a range of facilities, which amply meet academic and social, needs of its pupils. The building offers 30 classrooms, four fully equipped IT rooms and an excellent library and reprographics centre. Large playing fields, netball, basketball and tennis facilities and a purpose-built gymnasium complete the provision. A wide range of activities are available, ranging from sporting fixtures to school productions. The school encourages and welcomes assistance and support from local sports clubs and coaches, and has developed links for football, athletics, gymnastics, tennis and cricket. The school aims to produce and maintain a pleasant environment, which encourages and supports a positive approach to school and learning.
