Background:

The priory school sets in attractive and well-maintained grounds on outskirts of Shrewsbury. It was originally established in 1939 as girls' grammar, but is now mixed comprehensive with thriving house system. It housed in attractive building that benefits from a great deal of specialist accommodation. It prides itself on high academic aspirations and in addition to national curriculum subjects. Latin continues to be a popular option. Pupils also work hard to raise substantial funds for charity each year. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered in the school including: netball, hockey, orienteering, rugby, badminton, soccer (boys and girls), tabletennis, tennis, rounders, athletics, cricket, trampoline and basketball. The school provides a variety of opportunities at lunchtime and after-school to enhance the learning of pupils. The school aims to provide an environment where all students are encouraged to strive for their best.
